Xenotransplantation: the Future of Heart Failure Treatment

Prof. Horațiu Moldovan is one of the pioneers of Romanian cardiovascular surgery, being one of the specialists that introduced coronary surgery and the surgical treatment of aortic dissection to our country. Dedicated to his craft, Prof. Moldovan is among the Romanian physicians who have conducted the most heart transplants. However, being a well-rounded surgeon means more than just practice, so Prof. Moldovan has also participated in a number of research projects and he has proven himself to be an innovator in his field of interest.

This conference will take you through the interesting, yet controversial topic of xenotransplantation, a process which entails growing artificial human hearts in an animal and then transplanting it to a human. It is a known fact that transplantation may give rise to some ethical dilemmas, so could this new approach prove itself to be the solution?
